PKSB - Does This Sound Familiar?

If you're a Chartership candidate - or any kind of CILIP member - you'll be aware of the shiny new circular diagram which is our Professional Knowledge and Skills Base. Chartership candidates and their mentors will be paying close attention to the self-assessment that is required at the beginning and end of the training process.

Even if you're not in CILIP, as library staff in the higher education sector you'll still be interested in CPD - Continuing Professional Development.

Did you know that if you're working in any of the Scottish Universities or Small Specialist Institutions libraries, then your library has a representative at SALCTG?

This forum exists to organise training opportunities and visits for our members!  So if you're looking for a course, or would like to visit other libraries in the company of a small group of local librarians, then you've landed on the right page.  It's all good professional development.

Our courses are legendary - we get top trainers.  And our library visits are great networking opportunities to a wide range of libraries.  West of Scotland reps are reminded that we hope to go to the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) at Ayr in the near future.

  • Do you know who your rep is?
  • What courses and/or visits would you like to attend?  Speak to your rep, or get in touch via the website.  We're always on the look-out for new ideas!
  • Could you offer to host a visit at your own library?  Again, do make contact with your rep or via this website.
